Sweet!

Thank you to Pippa Jay for this award.
This one comes with strings so to fulfil the requirements here are seven random facts about myself...
1. Writing is my secret identity, I am really a science technician in a school, maybe I should get a mask.
2. I have a smelly rescue Bull Terrier called Keira, she sleeps a lot and is very cuddly.
3. I can't drive - but I am hoping to rectify this soon.
4. I'm a bottle red - sssh don't tell anyone.
5. I could live on chocolate and red wine.
6. My husband took me on the back of his scooter for the first time ever last week, it was the scariest thing I have done since I was a kid.
7. I'm going to get my belly button pierced for my birthday and I'm doing lots of crunches to make my belly presentable - crunches suck.

Now I get to pass this on to fifteen other bloggers, these are some cool places I like to hang out and make a general nuisance of myself...

Planner or Pantser?

Writing suddenly feels like pulling my hair out.

I made it to 17,000 words (yay!!) and chapter 7 with no problem but my plans for what happens in the next couple of chapters have started to dry up.

And that's when I started asking, 'Am I a planner or a pantser?'

I always thought I was a fly-by-the-seat-of-my-pants type of girl and that planning stops the writing.  But now I'm thinking that will only get me thus far.

So I have jotted down a couple more ideas to hopefully feed the next 17k and I'm back on with my flying pants.

I've been writing...

So after the drought comes the rain - not an actual downpour but there has been a definite increase in my writing.  I am upto chapter 3 and about 5000 words into Death's Daughter.  I wasn't expecting to be writing this story at all, I haven't done any outlining and am just editing and researching as I go - which I know is not recommended but it seems to be working so far.  I have even had a plot development arrive in a dream which is much easier than my normal route so I think this is what I should be writing and I'll get back to Star when I'm not trying to force it.
Oh and I think Cormac is starting to grow on me, although it does sound a bit too nice to be a reeeeaaally bad boy - but now Drake makes me think of ducks too :)

Poll - Help!!

Hi as you can see I have posted a poll (and changed the background to make it easier to read the question) and would appreciate your thoughts on which is the best name for a good baddie, or a bad goodie.
I thought the meanings might help;
Conn is Gaelic and means Chief
Drake means Dragon and comes from the Greek for serpent
Cormac is another Gaelic one and has several theories such as Son of Raven or Impure Son
Thanks for voting :)

And Now For Something Completely Different...

I started writing something completely different yesterday.  I know.  I'm difficult.  In my defense giving me a project  aka the writing competition makes me put pressure on myself and then my subconscious kicks in with an excellent distraction; ta dah - a whole new story!
This one has a title and a couple of thousand words already, it's amazing what you can do when you are trying to avoid something else *rolls eyes*
I'll post some as I go but so far it is called Death's Daughter is set in modern day London and is about a 29 year old kick-ass witch called Sam (she is Star's second cousin - family outcast) involves a murder mystery, angels, lost souls and lots of paranormal activity.  Well what did you expect??
